June 9th-12th, hybrid format
The first edition of the New European Bauhaus (NEB) Festival, which aims to bring together people from all walks of life to discuss and explore the values of NEB: the beautiful, the new and the sustainable, takes place from June 9th to 12th.
The event is aimed at all those interested and participating in the various initiatives prepared is encouraged. This is an opportunity for networking around the possibility of getting to know NEB, its activities and objectives.
The Festival has several activities planned, in different countries: exhibitions, artistic performances, conferences, seminars and others, combining live and virtual activities, through its own platform. The highlight goes to the following activities with national participation, in the different components of the event:
FAIR: consists of a live exhibition (including virtual reality, 3D and live interaction) in Brussels to showcase current and future projects, along with opportunities to meet, interact and exchange ideas, bringing together different stakeholders. Portugal participates in 9 projects on display:zero-carbon, Improving Migrant Integration, Healthy me, healthy us, Sounds natural, SuperBARRIO, Creative Europe Desks, COMPOSE PLUS, Art as a social catalyst, The Ageless City
FEST: is an invitation to dive into the universe of artists and creative thinkers from all over Europe. Four days of artistic installations, meetings with designers, interactive workshops, concerts, lectures, circus shows, dance and guided tours. There is one Portuguese participant, which is the product designer Mariana Costa e Silva: FAZ - DO IT with your hands, do more buy less
FORUM: will feature over 60 speakers from around the world, including architects and climate activists, as well as many others from the world of sustainability, culture and social sciences and leaders of EU services. The Forum is organised in a face-to-face (in Brussels) and online format.
SIDE EVENTS: more than 200 side events taking place in Brussels and across Europe. The programme includes concerts, think tanks, debates and exhibitions in over 20 EU Member States. There are 13 events with Portuguese participation: Eco-Empathy, 40x4' CoDesign Views, Al-Bauhaus Dream Factory, Pelo Andar da Carruagem (The Way Things are Going), Affection Appliances, Festhink-Festival of Thought, Rua Zero : (Re)Imagining Coimbra (Zero Street: (Re)Imagining Coimbra), Stories From Both Sides, Developing circular and sharing economy practices in cities, Design for co-participation and food community engagement, MOSAIC FEST: Cultural Heritage and Creativity (Bussaco), Start-Greening-Up, Hack Extrem.
The ceremony for the New European Bauhaus Awards 2022 is also part of the programme and will take place on June 11th, at 4:00 p.m., in both formats (digital and face-to-face). The Portuguese project REPLAY is one of the finalists, in the category of Shaping a circular industrial ecosystem and supporting life-cycle thinking.
ANI is the National Contact Point for NEB and is tasked with promoting the initiative and supporting Portuguese participation.
