The report “Towards a Policy Dialogue and Exchange of Best Practices on Knowledge Valorisation”, promoted by the European Commission, highlights the best practices in knowledge valorization in several European countries, in 11 different areas.
Portugal stands out in the Knowledge Transfer Intermediaries, Industry – academia interactions and Dissemination (Open Science, Open Innovation & platforms) areas, namely through ANI – National Innovation Agency managed initiatives, with several examples of best practices of knowledge valorization.
From these ANI initiatives, the Technology Transfer Network was highlighted as an example amongst knowledge transfer intermediaries. In the industry-academia interactions area, the mentions went to the Born from Knowledge program, the Technological Demonstrator initiative and the financing tool Demonstrator Projects. When it comes to dissemination, the highlight was the Innovation Portal, for its innovative nature and potential to link technological supply and demand.
The conclusions of the report reveal an interest from the Member States in sharing best practices for knowledge valorisation. Between the next steps proposed by the European Commission are the creation of events focused on best practices and knowledge exchange amongst peers, the creation of an IT platform and, finally, a European best knowledge valorisation practices competition.
The survey which originated the report counted on the participation of 23 countries. The final report was developed by the Directorate-General for Research and Innovation of the European Commission, more specifically by the Valorisation Policies & IPR Unit, under the Prosperity Directory.
