Portuguese Government approves Regulation for the Recognition Process of Digital Innovation Hubs
The Regulation for the Recognition Process of Digital Innovation Hubs was recently approved. This document, issued by the Ministry of Economy and Digital Transition, is intended for the creation of a National Network of Digital Innovation Hubs, keeping in mind the priorities defined in the Digital Transition Action Plan.
This National Network will be articulated with the European Digital Innovation Hubs Network and is framed by the European Commission's framework programmes for 2021-2027 for R&D and Innovation (Horizon 2020 and Digital Europe). It is intended that, once officially recognized, the national Hubs can generate added value at European level, becoming potential candidates to join the European Network, after specific call(s) to be opened by the European Commission under the Digital Europe Programme.
The Digital Innovation Hubs - collaborative networks made up of specific digital competence centers - aim to stimulate the adoption of advanced digital technologies by companies, especially SMEs, through the development, testing and experimentation of these technologies.
Given the significant differences in levels of digitalization, in regional and sectoral terms, the National Network of Innovation Hubs will be born through cooperation between various partners, such as Interface Centers (CIT), Collaborative Laboratories (CoLAB) or Competitiveness Clusters, in articulation with companies and other R&D and innovation entities, contributing to strengthen the National Innovation System.
The ANI - National Innovation Agency, will integrate the Evaluation Commission of the Digital Innovation Hubs.
