European launch on March 18th and 19th and Portuguese event on March 23rd

With a €10B budget, the European Innovation Council (EIC) will launch on March 18th. This new Horizon Europe initiative aims to make Europe into a global leader in the support of disruptive deep tech projects, of high-risk investigation and market penetration, with great benefits to both society and economy and with the potential to create new markets. Its flagship instrument is Accelerator, developed to scale-up entrepreneurial projects to a global level, supporting the most disruptive ones with technological development and validation grants, up to 2.5M and equity, to scale-up the business until 15M€.

The European Innovation Council poses an opportunity for Portugal to retain its national-originated deep tech businesses, to attract talent and highly skilled labour and increase the exposure of tech-based SMEs, as well as that of the whole national ecosystem, in more competitive international systems.

After the European launch, through a public event scheduled for March 18th, there will be an 'Applicants Day'. This initiative, which will take place on March 19th, is aimed at everyone interested in getting to know the details of the competition.

On March 23rd, at 10h30, in a session especially focused on Portugal, the team responsible for the EIC within the European Commission will be with ANI to launch the European Innovation Council (EIC), in a public session which will communicate this instrument's objectives to the national community.
