Horizon Europe is the European Union's current Research and Innovation Framework Programme. Starting on 1 January 2021 and ending on 31 December 2027, it has a planned budget of 95.5 billion euros to support research and innovation activities.
In Portugal, and within the PERIN network, ANI is responsible for monitoring the participation of the scientific, technological and innovation community in projects that integrate pillars II (Global Challenges and European Industrial Competitiveness) and III (Innovative Europe) of Horizon Europe. Each of the areas is accompanied by National Contact Points (NCP), responsible for disseminating and promoting all the specific actions related to their sphere of intervention, as well as informing and assisting those interested in the application process. ANI's NCPs are also responsible for accompanying European Partnerships, namely industrial ones, and the Missions that have been established under Pillar II of Horizon Europe.
ANI's NCPs are the National Delegates in the Programme Committees, for Pillars II and III of Horizon Europe, who follow the discussion and definition of research and innovation priorities that will be competing in the various biennial Work Programmes that will be launched between 2021 and 2027.
