It has around €300 million in funding

The European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT) has selected the new Knowledge and Innovation Community (KIC) in the Cultural and Creative Sectors and Industries (CCSI). This community will receive funding of around €300 million (M€) throughout the planned 15 years of funding from the European Commission's Framework Programmes for Research & Innovation.

This new KIC will join the current eight EIT communities and has as main objectives: establishing frontier education in the CCSI; launching mission-based innovations; boosting the entrepreneurial side in cultural and creative industries; creating value in CCSI and increasing their impact, and boosting the recognition of innovation and research ecosystems in CCSI.

The KIC has the participation of 50 institutions at European level. Portugal participates through the University of Porto, as lead partner, and UPTEC.

Following the establishment of the KIC, calls for projects will be launched in the areas of education, innovation and entrepreneurship.

EIT's KICs are an integral part of Horizon Europe, which is monitored by ANI. For further information regarding the national participation in EIT's KICs, please go to ANI's page - https://pq-ue.ani.pt/h-europa/o-instituto-europeu-de-innovacao-e-tecnologia-eit/.
