Five European Missions

The European Commission has officially launched five European Missions, innovative initiatives to tackle global challenges in health, climate and the environment. In Portugal, four missions will be supported by ANI, within the scope of the PERIN network.

In one of the most ambitious challenges to date, the European Union aims to solve comprehensive and global issues through dedicated missions on 'Cancer', 'Adaptation to climate change', 'Climate-neutral and smart cities', 'Soil Deal for Europe' and 'Restore our Ocean and Waters'. Each mission aims to deliver solutions to the respective challenge by 2030.

These initiatives are a novelty in Horizon Europe and an original concept within European policies, bringing together several European Commission services and encompassing R&I projects, policy measures and legislative initiatives, in order to achieve concrete goals with large societal impact within a specified timeline.
